Teflon - PTFE

PTFE, or polytetrafluoroethylene - better known as Teflon - belongs to the group of high-performance thermoplastics. Our company is engaged in production of Teflon, which, thanks to its unique properties, is used in many industries. It is characterized, first of all, by the highest heat resistance among plastics with technical applications. It is also chemically resistant, which means that it does not dissolve in any known solvents. Teflon is characterized by high thermal resistance, so it can be used in temperature ranges from -200°C to 260°C. On the other hand, due to its chemical inertness, it can be used in food processing and also come into contact with drinking water. Other properties of Teflon include:

  • low coefficient of friction,
  • excellent insulating capacity,
  • low dielectric coefficient,
  • resistance to UV radiation,
  • resistance to microorganisms (non-toxic).

Application of Teflon

Teflon is primarily associated with good frying pans. Today, its use is standard in the household appliances market, but it is also used in many other industries. Among other things, it is used for:

  • building machinery,
  • building apparatuses for the chemical and laboratory industries,
  • production of cables for the aerospace and computer industries,
  • production of pumps and kitchen and bathroom fittings,
  • manufacture of machinery and components in contact with food,
  • manufacture of gears,
  • elements and sliding plates,

Production of Teflon

Like many other plastics - such as polyethylene and polypropylene - Teflon is obtained by polymerization, the joining of single molecules called monomers into long hydrocarbon chains, or polymers. The substance undergoing polymerization in this case is tetrafluorocarbon. Teflon produced by us is used for the production of components that are used in various industries, including food or chemical.
